Pub Table Racers now supporting iRacing drivers

Online racing has been around for years in a niche market with limited support from the mainstream fans.

However, when the world was tossed upside down this past March and all on-track racing stopped because of COVID 19, iRacing became what the cool kids did and fans watched, as well.

Wanting to be involved, Pub Table Racers is now involved supporting two iRacing drivers in three different series.

Elaine Hughes and Clint Leatherwood compete in different leagues carrying the Pub Table Racers logo on their virtual cars. There is also a PubTableRacers.com 160 soon to be run by Leatherwood at Dover International Raceway on Signature ESports TV through Facebook or Twitch on Tuesday, December 15.

“There has been talk of online racing for quite awhile and we’ve known several drivers who have competed at various levels,” said Tim Packman, co-host and owner of Pub Table Racers. “When everything shut down in March, it really came to the forefront when multiple NASCAR drivers become involved and it was aired on FOX TV networks.

“This type of racing allows fans in the stands to race against the real stars in the cars in some leagues. We are very pleased to become involved with these two drivers and proud to have our name on the race next Tuesday.”

Hughes has raced on the real asphalt in Late Models, Street Stocks and captured a Legends championship at Concord (NC) Speedway in 1999. She has worked in NASCAR as a pit crew member and tire changer. Currently, Hughes is the Financial Controller for Rick Ware Racing.

She races in both the Iron Thunder Racing League and Ring Around the Rodies Series of iRacing. Her No. 29 Chevrolet carries the Pub Table Racers logo in front of the rear tires.

“I have always loved racing, being around racing and competing,” Hughes said. “When the opportunity came up for me to go iRacing I didn’t hesitate one bit to build my own set up and get back behind the wheel.

“Its not only fun, its very competitive and I learn something new every race. Having the support of both Pub Table Racers and Tech Fabrication, Inc. allows me to enter races and compete.

“I haven’t made it to Victory Lane yet, but I can guarantee that is my goal for every race, every time.”

Leatherwood competes in the TRUCs Series where they race, you guessed it – trucks. He started racing in March and their races are shown on SE TV through ROKU.

In addition to having the PTR logo on Leatherwood’s hood, he will compete in the upcoming PubTableRacers.com 160 race at Dover on Dec. 15.

“Clint has worked in racing for a long time and when he approached me about doing this, we were on board right away,” said Warren Brosel, co-host and owner of Pub Table Racers. “This online racing really became a big deal when the on-track racing was shut down.

“It’s pretty cool to know our FB Live show and website are going to be seen by the iRacing community. We feel the mutual support and cross promotion is going to beneficial to all of us.”
